Bio: I have been practicing yoga and meditation since 1970 and taught yoga for several years before giving birth to my two children, now adults. I then turned my attention to the world of parenting, and after spending time serving in an orphanage in northern India, I brought the age-old practice of infant massage to the West in my groundbreaking first book, Infant Massage, a Handbook for Loving Parents. For several years, I taught parents the art of infant massage out of my home. In 1978, at the request of childbirth educators, I developed a training program and began to train instructors to teach the curriculum I developed, incorporating Swedish and reflexology methods and yoga postures adapted for babies. After several years, I trained a group of dedicated instructors to train other instructors, and the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) was born. The IAIM now has more than 71 chapters worldwide, 50 Trainers, and my book has been translated into 14 languages. I traveled to India many times during these years, and I had the great fortune of working in Mother Teresa's Shishu Bhavan (baby hospital) in Calcutta. I have written nine books, including Infant Massage, a Handbook for Loving Parents, The Tao of Motherhood, and The Path of Parenting: Twelve Principles to Guide Your Journey.
